LEAD STAFF

Janine Bratherton - Head of Consultancy

JANINE BRATHERTON leads our customer services and marketing activities. She liaises with our customer organizations on tailoring services to meet their needs and on arrangements for the provision of those services.

 

Janine leads support for our consultancy services, including carrying out literature searches, developing and managing consultancy project plans, and producing reports, slide presentations and other materials related to our consultancy work. She handles data input and data analysis for national clinical audits we support. She also leads the design and production of our teaching packages and supports sales of our publications. 

Janine manages our extensive library of books, journals and articles on the subject of quality and safety in healthcare.

David Blake - Head of Design and Production

DAVID BLAKE has over 30 years of experience in graphic design, printing, publishing and document management. He leads the design and production of our company image and brand and all of our educational products. He designs and produces our educational manuals and workbooks and the slide presentations needed for all our educational courses and workshops. He also

designs and produces our e-learning courses and workshops. He designed and built, develops and maintains the company website. He manages the printing and shipping of all our educational materials.

David contributes to planning, designing and producing materials for the exhibitions we participate in. He also designs posters for our customers to present their work at conferences.

Nancy Dixon - CEO

NANCY DIXON leads the development of our products and our consultancy and teaching work. She was trained as a psychologist and is a specialist in the subject of measuring and improving the quality and safety of healthcare services. She holds the following qualifications in this field: Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, Healthcare Quality Certification Commission (US); Fellow, National Association for Healthcare Quality (US): Certified in Medical Quality, American Board of Medical Quality (US); Fellow, Chartered Quality Institute (UK); International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) approved Expert, and Member Q, The Health Foundation Quality Community (UK).

Nancy works regularly in the UK and has worked in The Bahamas, Botswana, Holland, Italy, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Taiwan in recent years. She has been a member of the Board of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) and a member of the Fellowship Review Board for NAHQ in the US. Before coming to the UK, Nancy worked for a number of years for The Joint Commission in the US.

Liz Cox - Business Manager

LIZ COX leads our business. She is responsible for everything related to managing the business, leads our programme and project planning and manages the delivery of all our products and services and our quality control systems. She has over 30 years of experience in business management and administration on delivering services related to healthcare quality, clinical outcomes, clinical audit, quality improvement, patient safety and clinical governance.

Liz manages our team in the delivery of all our work. She manages our large-scale projects, including data handling and analysis for large-scale clinical audits and analyses of serious incidents in healthcare settings that we undertake as an independent organization. She works with Nancy in facilitating some of our courses and workshops. She researches and interprets the evidence base on subjects that we are working on and she quality controls all our work.

ADVISERS 

 

We are a small, effective staff team. We complement our staff team with a group of advisers who have worked with us over years and are experienced in specific areas related to quality and safety of health care. We call on our advisers to help us with large–scale projects as needed.

Martin Dove

MARTIN DOVE works independently as a UK Government accredited assurance reviewer for major programmes and projects in the public sector in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and internationally. He has specialist experience in the National Health Service and experience in health, government, education, defence, industry and transport.

Martin works on programme and project appraisal, assurance and evaluation; the delivery of strategy and policy for the transformation of systems, services and organizations; digital transformation programmes and IT systems; major capital investment in buildings and infrastructure; and building capability and facilitation of teams, including senior leader masterclasses and change and project management at all levels of systems and organizations. 

Martin is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is a member of the UK Healthcare Financial Management Association and King’s College University of London Association.

Professor Ulrich Wienand

PROFESSOR ULRICH WIENAND, MD, PhD, is a Lecturer in Quality Evaluation in the Master of Healthcare Management at the University of Ferrara, Italy, and a member of the Independent Evaluation Body of the Local Health Authority "Roma 1". He previously was responsible for Accreditation, Quality, Research and Innovation at the University Hospital of Ferrara and he was the National Coordinator of the International Quality Indicator Project IQIP  , and a Senior Surveyor in the Accreditation Program of the Emilia-Romagna Region.

 

He has been promoting programs for teaching and carrying out clinical audits in many Italian hospitals and healthcare trusts, often in partnership with HQQ.  In a large two-year project, funded by the Emilia-Romagna Region, he edited the Italian edition of Getting Clinical Audit Right to Benefit Patients.

Annette Henderson

ANNETTE HENDERSON is an independent Quality Improvement Adviser providing quality improvement and clinical audit advice to individuals and organizations in the healthcare sector. She has created a system to develop quality improvement coaching training to increase capacity to support staff undertaking improvement work in NHS Lothian in Scotland. Annette was formerly a Patient Safety Program Manager at NHS Lothian, managing and delivering a safety program to reduce mortality, harm and risk to patients by improving the capacity and capability of staff to improve safety in their service. Prior to this role, Annette was a Clinical Effectiveness Manager at NHS Lothian, leading a team to support the development of a multidisciplinary quality improvement programme to implement evidence-based practice and make required improvements to comply with best practice standards.

 

Previously, Annette was a Research Nurse at York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, implementing a research strategy to improve the capacity and capability of staff to undertake research to evaluate the quality of care delivered by nursing staff. 

 

Annette has a Master’s Degree in Quality Assurance from the University of Leeds Nuffield Institute.
