Using
Quality Improvement to Improve Patient Care Course
Clinical
groups in healthcare organizations are expected to continuously
improve the quality of patient care they offer. But, evidence-based
improvements in quality don't just happen they are achieved
by the people involved, working through a systematic, scientifically-sound
process.
Clinical
teams taking on quality improvement (QI) projects are likely to
need help in the proper design of improvement projects and in the
use of accepted QI tools and techniques. Individuals need to be
prepared to 'enable' clinical teams to achieve significant improvements.
An improvement 'enabler' is someone who is trained in scientific
improvement methods and in working with teams and someone who can
provide clinical teams with the technical expertise needed.
This
five-day course is designed especially for people who want to learn
how to enable clinical teams. The course walks participants through
everything from developing a group of different professionals into
an effective improvement team to how to help teams use any or all
of 25 QI tools and techniques.
Who
the course is for
The
course is intended for individuals designated to work with clinical
teams, 'leads' for quality improvement, improvement or quality development
facilitators, clinical effectiveness and clinical audit facilitators
and any others who have a role in supporting clinical or management
teams to improve the quality of their services.
We
also provide the course for regional or local groups.
What's
included
Each
course participant receives a 450-page manual and other materials.
Cost
The
cost of the five-day residential course is £1515 plus VAT.
This price includes the course fee, all course-related materials
and hotel accommodation including meals for a four-night stay.

Mapping
Processes for Quality Improvement Workshop
If
you work in any healthcare organization, you are likely to experience
frustration and stress because of 'the system'. Unexplained delays
in service and missing or lost information are just two examples.
To achieve real improvements in both quality and efficiency of care
and service, you and your work colleagues have to get involved in
making systems work for you, not against you.
One
way to get people involved in redesigning systems is to 'map' processes
or systems. A process map is a way of showing exactly how a clinical
or non-clinical process works now. Completed process maps are extremely
useful in getting people involved in changing things to make improvements.
Mapping
Processes for Quality Improvement is available as a one or two-day
workshop. It provides participants with the knowledge and skills
required to use process mapping techniques and to motivate others
to take part.
Who
the workshop is for
The
workshop is designed for individuals who will analyse or help others
to analyse the way care or service is provided now and, where necessary,
to redesign the way things work.
Individuals
can learn how to lead and support teams in process mapping. Teams
working on improving their services and any others who have a role
in supporting clinical or management teams to improve the quality
of their services also will benefit. We offer the workshop on a
local level so that members' teams can learn together. We travel
to your organization and provide the workshop on site at a time
most convenient to the people involved.
What's
included
Each
participant receives a book that includes reference material and
practical assignments to complete in the workshop. Please contact
us for information regarding costs.

Getting
Control of Variation in Clinical Processes Workshop
Everyone
working in the healthcare sector knows that there is widespread
variation in clinical practice. An assumption being made is that
variation is bad and something must be done about it. What we aren't
doing systematically is analysing the variation to find out exactly
which variations make a difference to patients or service users.
Clinical
teams need to know with statistical certainty how
to analyse the variation in their practices and how to decide which
variation is 'important'.
The
one and two-day workshops provide healthcare practitioners with
the knowledge and skills to begin to use 'statistical process control'
techniques in measuring clinical performance and in collating information
on the quality of clinical practices.
Who
the workshop is for
The workshop is an introduction to using statistical process
control techniques for managers, quality development managers, 'leads'
for quality, clinical effectiveness and clinical audit facilitators
and multiprofessional teams working on improving their services.
The two-day workshop is for individuals who have responsibility
for collating clinical information for accountability purposes.
For
both workshops, prior knowledge of statistics is a benefit, not
a requirement. We offer the workshop at a local level. We travel
to your organization and provide the workshop on site at a time
most convenient to the participants.
What's
included
Each participant receives a book that includes reference
material and practical assignments to complete in the workshop.
