Involving
Users in Service and Health Improvements Workshop
True
service or health improvements depend on knowing how users see things
in relation to the service or to the aspect of health involved.
- Is
the service OK as it is or would people on the receiving end of
the service like to see things done differently?
- Is
the aspect of health important to users. If not, why not and what
would it take to make it important?
- If
there are options for changes to bring about improvements, what
would users prefer and why would they prefer some options over
others?
- When
changes have been made, do users feel that the changes have resulted
in improvements?
- How
would users evaluate a service. What would they set as criteria?
The
one-day workshop is designed to enable participants to get answers
to these questions. It takes a practical, systematic approach to
involving users of health and healthcare services.

Team
Workshop on Quality Improvement
Most
healthcare services are so complex that it is not possible for one
or two individuals working alone to make any real improvements.
It takes a team effort to achieve and maintain improvements that
provide substantial benefits to patients and service users.
When
a team is expected to produce substantial improvements in the quality
of patient care or service to users, there are even more challenges
such as reaching agreement within the team, getting needed support
for the work, collecting valid evidence about the effects of current
and improved practice and making changes in practice. To be credible
and successful, teams have to use a scientific approach to improvement
projects and they have to use project management methods.
Our
one-day workshop provides a team with information, facilitation,
guidance and experience in planning an improvement in the quality
of care or service.
Who
the workshop is for
The
workshop is for groups of staff who want to or need to work together
as teams to make improvements in real work situations. Managers
responsible for a group are encouraged to participate. We offer
the workshop on a local level. We travel to your organization and
provide the workshop on site at a time most convenient to the groups
of staff who will participate.
What's
included
Each
participant receives a book that includes reference material and
practical assignments to complete in the workshop. Contact us for

Facilitation
Skills and Techniques
People
have to work together as well-functioning teams to achieve significant
improvements in patient care. A group of people brought together
to do a substantial piece of work may benefit from having a skilled
facilitator to guide the group in becoming an effective team and
in carrying out its work. A competent facilitator also can teach
group members practical techniques for making decisions, analysing
issues and solving problems.
This
two-day course is designed especially for individuals who want to
learn how to work more effectively to help groups achieve important
goals. The course teaches participants how to use 15 different practical
techniques and tools to use with groups and gives guidance on how
to be a competent facilitator.
Who
the course is for
The
course is intended for individuals who have been designated to work
with clinical and non-clinical groups brought together to achieve
significant outcomes or improvements.
We
provide the course for regional or local groups on request.
What
is included
Each
participant receives a 125-page manual and other materials.
Cost
The cost of the two-day residential course is £600 plus
VAT which includes the course fee, all course-related materials
